Pathological And Clinical Factors Leading To Hysterectomies
This study evaluated the pathological and clinical factors associated with hysterectomies by analyzing 100 randomly selected uterine specimens collected between 2016 and 2017. The research found that benign uterine lesions were the most frequent indications, with adenomyosis present in 47 percent of cases and leiomyoma in 32 percent. While these benign conditions occurred across age groups, malignant findings such as invasive cervical carcinoma and endometrial carcinoma were predominantly observed in women over 40 years old. Relevance to endometriosis: adenomyosis is listed as a primary finding in 47% of hysterectomy cases, representing a closely related condition often studied alongside endometriosis in gynecological pathology.
