This paper is a systematic review of the literature on dietary recommendations for women with endometriosis, using searches of PubMed, ZbMed, Scopus, ResearchGate, guidelines, and hand searches for studies published from 2000 onward, resulting in 74 included publications (22 reviews and 52 original articles). The authors report that evidence across studies is sometimes contradictory, while they describe findings with relatively more support for a low-irritant, balanced diet rich in fruits and vegetables, an appropriate quantity and fatty-acid profile (including the balance of omega-3 to omega-6), and foods high in vitamin B, zinc, and antioxidants. A key limitation emphasized is that recommendations can only be general because individual disease history varies and comorbid intolerances, allergies, and other inflammatory digestive conditions can complicate interpretation, especially since single foods may have both positive and negative effects. This paper is centrally about endometriosis — it synthesizes nutritional research and proposes diet-related recommendations and caveats specific to endometriosis.
