Analysis of Endometrioma Treatment with Argon Plasma Ablation Techniques and Its Interference in Fertility: A Scoping Review Protocol

Endometriosis is a chronic inflammatory disease that affects women of reproductive age, often leading to infertility and chronic pelvic pain. One of its most severe manifestations is ovarian endometriomas, cystic lesions that frequently require surgical intervention. Traditional cystectomy techniques, such as the stripping method, may significantly reduce ovarian reserve, raising concerns about fertility preservation. Argon plasma ablation has emerged as a potential alternative with a potentially lower impact on ovarian function. This scoping review aims to systematically map the existing literature on the use of argon plasma ablation for the treatment of ovarian endometriomas, assessing its effects on ovarian reserve markers, fertility outcomes, and histological impact on ovarian tissue.
