Treatment of endometriosis with LHRH-A in 41 patients

Abstract

Recently the synthesized LHRH-analog (LHRH-A) used as medical oo-phorectomy for treatment of endometriosis offers much promising results. From Jan 1986 to Apr 1988, there were 41 patients of endometriosis treated with LHRH-A in our clinic.According to the AFS score, 19 patients Avere in grade I , 17 patients in grade I and 5 patients in grade I .The chief complains were primary dysmencr-rhea(26 patients).,secondary dysmenorrhea(8 patients)and 2 patients showed irregular vaginal bleeding.LHRH-A 200ug or 500ug im qd from the second day of menstrual peroid for 3 to 6 mo.The cyclic abdominal pain was relieved in 31 patients (91%).Serum estradiol and progesterone were measured by RIA before, during and after treatment in 16 patients. Fifteen patients showed normal ovulation before treatment. During treatment, cyclic serum estradiol and progesterone fluctuations fell to the castrate range, while menstruation resumed after the treatment was withdrawn.The estradiol and progesterone rose again to the level same as those of ovulatory cycle. Five patients became pregnant 3 mo after treatment, 3 patients in grade 1,2 patients in grade I . Four patients delivered at full term,l patient aborted.
