Abstract

OBJECTIVE To investigate the effects of mifepristone onendometriosis (EM) in patients with recurrence after laparoscopic surgery and serum IL-12. METHODS The treatment group was treated with mifepristone for 6 months. The controls were blank controls. The IL-12 levels of the two groups were by ELISA test. RESULTS There was significant difference in the recurrence rate between the treated group and control group (P﹤0.01). The IL-12 in serum after 5 days, 6 months, 1 annual greatly increased in treatment group. The IL-12 in serum at the time of 1 year and 6 months was significantly increased compared with 5 days after operation. The IL-12 in serum at the time of 1 year was significantly higher than that of the 6 months (P ﹤0.01). In the control group, the IL-12 in serum at the time of 1 year and 6 months were significant difference with those at the time of 5 days after operation. There was no significant difference between 1 year and 6 month (P﹥0.05). When compared the treatment group at the time of 1 year and 6-month treatment with the control group, there was statistically significant (P﹤ 0.01). CONCLUSION Mifepristone had inhibitation effect for recurrence after laparoscopic surgery for patients with EM. IL- 12 plays an important role in the pathogenesis of EM, and detection of the changes had a better reference for the recurrence of the disease significance.
