Maternity and Paternity Blues: clinical features and the need for intervention
preprint
OA: closed
Abstract
This article explores the phenomenon of Maternity and Paternity Blues, highlighting the emotional and psychological challenges that can emerge during the early stages of parenthood for both mothers and fathers. While traditionally associated with women in the postpartum period, recent studies underline how new fathers may also experience mood disturbances, anxiety, and adjustment difficulties. The article discusses clinical features, risk factors, and the impact on parent-infant bonding and family functioning. Emphasis is placed on the importance of early identification and the need for targeted psychological interventions to support parental mental health and promote healthy family dynamics.
