Abstract

Objective:To explore the levels of leptin and it's receptor in serum and peritoneal fluid of patients with endometriosis and their role in the pathogenesis of endometriosis. Methods:The levels of leptin and it's receptor in serum and peritoneal fluid from 42 patients with endometriosis (test group) and 36 patients without endometriosis (control group) were detected by ELISA. Correlation between their levels and disease degree was analyzed. Results:There was no significant difference in the levels of leptin and it's receptor in serum, body mass index (BMI) between test group and control group (P0.05).The levels of leptin and it's receptor in peritoneal fluid in test group were significantly higher than those in control group (P0.01).The levels of leptin and it's receptor in patients with mild endometriosis were significantly higher than those with severe endometriosis (P0.05).Conclusion:The levels of leptin and it's receptor in peritoneal fluid increase, and decrease with the severe degree of endometriosis. The changes of levels of leptin and it's receptor in peritoneal fluid may play a role in the pathogenesis of endometriosis.
