Abstract
Objectives: To evaluate and compare Bcl-2,Bax,survivin gene experession in Han and Uigur women with and without endometriosis(EM) to explore possibility for the pathogenesis of endometriosis. Methods: Bcl-2 and Bax expressions were assessed with immunohistochemical techniques. In situ hybridization techniques was used to examine the survivin mRNA expression, and were examined in the eutopic and ectopic endometrium of patients with endometriosis and eutopic endometrium of without endometriosis. There were 37 Uigurs(15 controls and 22 patients) and 37 Hans(15 controls and 22 patients).(Results:) Bcl-2,Bax and survivin immuneoreactivity were found predominately in the glandular epithelial cells,Bcl-2 and survivin expression in eutopic and ectopic endometrium was significantly increased compared with the healthy controls, and Bax expression in eutopic and ectopic endometrium was significantly decreased compared with the healthy controls(P0.05).An increased expression of Bcl-2 protein was found in proliferative eutopic endometrium from healthy controls.Bax expression was increased both proliferative and secretory endometrium in healthy controls. There was no significant difference in the expression level of survivin between proliferative and secretory phase in healthy controls(P0.05).Conclusions: Bcl-2 and survivin expression with EMs was significantly increased compared with no EMs and Bax expression with EMs was significantly decreased compared with no EMs.The results indicate that the expression of apoptotic genes were different in eutopic and ectopic endometrium from patients with endometriosis and without endometriosis. The expression of promoting apoptotic genes decreased and restraning apoptotic genes increased, which could bear implications for the growth and survival of ectopic endometrial tissue. No statistically significant differentce was found in the expression of Bcl-2,Bax and survivin between Hans and Uigurs.
