Abstract

OBJECTIVE To observe the effect of curcumin on microvessel density(MVD) and antiangiogenesis in ectopic endometrium of rats.METHODS Wistar rats endometriosis models were established,after 4 weeks the model rats were divided into the control group, sham operated group,model group,high-dose group and low-dose group after 4 weeks. MVD was observed by immunohistochemistry (SP technique) and the protein expression level of vascular endothelial growth factor(VEGF) was detected by Western blotting in eutopic and ectopic endometrium after 28 days' treatment.RESULTS MVD and the protein expression level of VEGF in ectopic endometrium were decreased remarkably after treatment of curcumin after 4 weeks(P0.05),while the difference was not significant in the eutopic endometrium. Curcumin could significantly inhibit proliferation of ectopic endometrium in a dose-dependent manner.CONCLUSION Curcumin has the effect on inhibiting the MVD and angiogenesis in ectopic endometrium of rats, which effects are dose-dependent. Cuecumin maybe a new drug of antiangiogenesis to the endometriosis.
