Abstract

Objectives: To evaluate the quality of life of patients with a medical diagnosis of endometriosis treated at a private clinic in Tubarao - Santa Catarina, between August and October 2020. Methods: Cross-sectional study with 83 patients, through the application of a questionnaire prepared by the researchers and validated instruments, The Endometriosis Health Profile - 30 (EHP-30) to rate quality of life and the Visual Analog Scale (VAS) to measure the pain intensity. The collected data were analyzed statistically using the Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS®) version 20.0. Student's t-test or analysis of variance (ANOVA) was used to compare the means. The level of significance was set at 5% (p <0.05). Results: The total score obtained from EHP-30 was 37.93. Among the domains that composes this instrument, Infertility obtained the highest score, of 53.86. Statistical significance was observed between the body mass index and the EHP-30 in the domains: Pain (p = 0.002), Control and impotence (p = 0.014), Emotional well-being (p = 0.005), Support social ”(p = 0.050) and“ Self-image”(p = 0.000). Conclusion: The total EHP-30 score demonstrated a low impact on the patients' quality of life, however when analyzed individually, the domains infertility, emotional well-being and sexual relations showed the greatest impact. Patients with a high body mass index had a greater negative impact on their quality of life when compared to eutrophic ones.
