Miraferrum® forte: a new promising food supplement in gynecological disorders based on iron deficiency

Abstract

BACKGROUND: Gynecological disorders are a large number of diseases that involve the female reproductive apparatus. Miraferrum® forte is a food supplement based on an innovative iron pyrophosphate source opportunely vehiculated with functional excipients and vitamin C and folic acid.METHODS: The aim of the current survey was to evaluate the effect on clinical parameters of Miraferrum® forte consumption for 3 months in women with three different gynecological conditions: anemia in pregnancy, menometrorrhagia and uterine fibromatosis. At the start of the study (T0) and after three months (T3) siderosis, ferritin and hemoglobin concentration in 119 patients with a mean age of 38 years were evaluated.RESULTS: All clinical parameters were significantly improved (P<0.001) after 3 months of Miraferrum® forte administration with respect to baseline (T0).CONCLUSIONS: This survey demonstrated that Miraferrum® forte could be a promising adjuvant in women with anemia in pregnancy, menometrorrhagia and uterine fibromatosis.
