Abstract
Background: Deep infiltrating endometriosis (DIE) involving the bowel is a complex surgical challenge requiring high-level expertise. This study evaluates surgical outcomes and quality-of-life improvements in patients managed via a multidisciplinary approach. Methods: A prospective observational study was conducted at Kanachur Institute of Medical Sciences (January 2023 – December 2024). Fifty-two symptomatic patients underwent laparoscopic management (shaving, disc excision, or segmental resection). Pain was assessed using Visual Analogue Scale (VAS) scores. Results: Segmental resection was required in 30.8% of cases. Post-operative VAS scores for dyschezia dropped from 8.4±1.2 to 2.1±0.8 (p<0.001). Minor complications occurred in 11.5% of cases. Conclusion: Multidisciplinary surgical intervention provides significant symptomatic relief with manageable morbidity.
