Policresulen in treating cervical erosion in 100 patients

AIM: To verify the efficacy of policresulen in treatment of cervical erosion. METHODS: During 3-7 d after the menstrual period, 100 women with cervix erosion were treated with the gauze soaked with concentrated policresulen liquid (1 g liquid contained 360 mg policresulen) laid on the affected area for 3 min, qod 2 times, and following the policresulen suppository (contained policresulen 90 mg) were inserted deeply into the vagina qod 6 times. The reexamination was done after the next mense. RESULTS: The remarkable response rates of the simple, granular, and papilary types were 90%, 31%, and 10%, respectively, P0.01. Marked response rates of policresulen on cervical erosion of mild, moderate, and severe degree were 87%, 59%, and 15%, respectively, P0.05. Six patients complained of burning feeling in vagina during medication.CONCLUSION: Policresulen is very efficient for the treatment of simple and mild cervical erosion.
