Abstract

ObjectiveTo evaluate the influence of peritoneal fluid in patients with endometriosis(EM) on human sperm motility in vitro, and further analyze the pathogenesis of infertility associated with EM.Methods Normal sperm aseptically prepared by swim-up technique was incubated with peritoneal fluid obtained from EM group(30 women) and control group(18 women).Measurements were carried out in a session of 2 h and 4 h in all specimens with computer aided sperm analysis(CASA).Results After 4 h incubation with peritoneal fluids, the sperm motive parameters were decreased significantly in EM group(P0.01) including total sperm motility, sperm progressive motility, sperm fast progressive motility and VCL,VAP,VSL,LIN,WOB,STR. Conclusion It is likely that reduction of sperm motility in peritoneal fluid in patients with EM may play a role in the pathogenesis of infertility associated with EM.
