The clinical efficacy of laparoscopic surgery combined with ginsenoside Rg3 on ovarian endometriosis

Objective To investigate the efficacy of laparoscopic surgery combined with ginsenoside Rg3 on ovarian endometriosis and its side effects.Methods One-hundred and eighteen patients undergoing conservative laparoscopic surgery of ovarian endometriosis were randomly divided into three groups:ginsenoside Rg3 treatment group (n=39),gestrinone treatment group (n=41) and control group (n=38).All cases were followed up for 6～9 months.In addition,the recurrence rate and occurrence rate of side effects were compared across the three groups after surgery.Results There was no statistical difference across the three groups at 3 months after surgery.After drug withdrawal for 6 months,the recurrence rate was 3% in ginsenoside Rg3 treatment group,5% in gestrinone treatment group and 22% in the control group.Ginsenoside Rg3 treatment group had no significant difference in reoccurrence rate with gestrinone treatment group but with the control group.Furthermore,statistical difference was found in side effects between ginsenoside Rg3 treatment and control groups.Conclusion Laparoscopic surgery combined with ginsenoside Rg3 treatment may help decrease the recurrence rate in treatment of ovarian endometriosis,with less side effects.This has proved that ginsenoside Rg3 as a new drug for treatment of ovarian endometriosis can be promoted in clinic.
