Psychological distress in women with endometriosis in relation to psychosocial factors

The aim of this study is to investigate differences in psychological distress between women with and without a diagnosis of endometriosis, as well as to analyze the role of perceived social support as moderating factor. The study will also explore the influence of perceived lack of understanding and perceived as well as reported pain intensity on psychological distress in women with endometriosis. Using a quantitative cross-sectional online questionnaire, depressive symptoms, anxiety symptoms, stress experiences, and pain-related psychological reactions will be assessed. The results are intended to contribute to a better understanding of psychosocial factors influencing endometriosis and to draw increased attention to the topic. Standardized self-report questionnaires on depression, anxiety, stress, pain-related reactions, social support, stigmatization, and pain intensity will be used for data collection.
