Abstract
Objective To study the role of vascular endothelial growth factor(VEGF)in the development of endometriosis. Methods VEGF levels in peritoneal fluid and serum of the endometriosis group and control group were determined by ELISA.VEGF expressions in ectopic endometrium, eutopic endometrium and normal endometrium were detected by immunohistochemical SP method. Results IVEGF levels in peritoneal fluid and serum in endometriosis group were significantly higher than those in the control group(P0.01);TheVEGF positive expression rates in ectopic endometrium, eutopic endometrium and normal endometrium were 63.33%,46.00%, 23.33%,respectively.The difference of positive expression rates showed statistically significant between any two groups of the three groups(P0.01).VEGFexpressionsinsecretory phase of ectopic endometrium and eutopic endometrial cells were stronger than in proliferative phase(P0.05);In control group,in proliferative and secretory phase the expression were weaker, the difference have no statistically significant(P0.05).Conclusion VEGF plays an important role in the development of endometriosis.
