Abstract

To explore the mechanism of Xiao Chaihu Tang in the treatment for endometriosis in rats, the rat model of endometriosis was established and were treated with Xiao Chaihu Tang,Danazol and Xiao Chaihu Tang plus Danazol for 4 weeks,respectively.Cyclooxygenase-2(COX-2) expression in each group of endometrium and endometriotic tissue was observed by immunohistochemistry method. The results showed that the expression of COX-2 in the endometriotic tissue was lower than that in endometrium in Xiao Chaihu Tang group and Xiao Chaihu Tang plus Danazol group, while Danazol group and control group were the opposite to Xiao Chaihu Tang group. The mechanism of Xiao Chaihu Tang in the treatment for endometriosis may be to decrease the COX-2 expression and reduce the formation of prostaglandins.
