Abstract

Abstract A new species Ficus duerrii (Moraceae) is described and illustrated from the rocky plateau of Orvakallu, Kurnool District of Andhra Pradesh state, India. It is a woody shrub allied to Ficus arnottiana but varying in habit due to the presence of aerial roots, shape of syconia, number and shape of ostiole bracts, and morphological structure of male, female and gall flowers. A detailed description is provided along with illustrations and images for easy identification of the new species. Anatomical characters of the stem, leaf and petiole are provided as evidence. The IUCN threat status of the new species is evaluated as Vulnerable based on EOO, AOO values and number of Individuals.
