Abstract
Abstract In this paper, we have studied the effect of the laser wavelength on the emission lines and on the plasma parameters of aluminum. A Q-Switched Nd:YAG laser operating at fundamental mode (1064 nm) and second harmonic generation at (532 nm) has been used to ablate the aluminum surface. Identification of transition lines from spectrum was carried out by comparing spectral lines with NIST atomic database. The variations of temperature and electron density were studied as a function of laser energy. It was found that the electron temperature of the Al plasma increases rapidly with increasing laser energy.
