Abstract
In the economy of Kazakhstan, agriculture occupies one of the leading places and is a vital sector of the national economy. In the Kyzylorda region, a decrease in land productivity (about 21.1 thousand hectares or 9.4% of the total used area (22.4 thousand hectares) was due to secondary salinization of about 62.8 thousand hectares, waterlogging of 22.3 thousand hectares or 29.6% of all irrigated lands in the region (287,525 hectares), loss of land resources and transformation into unproductive salt deserts. All this is a consequence of mismanagement in relation to the breadwinner of the land. Of great importance for the sustainable development of crop production in the region is the introduction of non-traditional, salt-tolerant grain fodder and fodder crops that can form a high yield in the conditions of the Kyzylorda region. Within the framework of the FAO project "Integrated natural resource management in drought-prone and saline areas of agricultural production in Central Asia and Turkey", field studies were carried out on the cultivation of sugar sorghum in the saline fields of rice systems of Dostyk Zher LLP, NK Kurylys LLP and PF " Talapker”, which ensured a high yield of rice and efficient use of irrigated land.
