Abstract
[Objective] To explore the content and the role of leptin in serum and peritoneal fluid of patients with endometriosis. [Methods] Forty-two cases with endometriosis (study group) and thirty cases without endometriosis (control group )were enrolled to.detect the expression of leptin in serum and peritoneal fluid in laparoscopic operation with the method of radio-immunity. [Results] The contents of leptin in serum of study group and control group were respectively (32.56±12.44), (15.44±5.56). There is a significant difference betwere the two groups (P 0.05). The contents of leptin in peritoneal fluid of study group and control group are respectively (36.21±14.46), (18.76±7.64). There was also a significant difference betwere the two groups (P 0.05. BWI and the contents of leptin of the study group in serum and peritoneal fluid showed positive correlation. The correlation coefficient was(r1=0.51, P 0.05; r2=0.57, P 0.05). BWI and the contents of leptin of the contron group in serum and peritoneal fluid show positive correlation. The correlation coefficient was(r3=0.68, P 0.05; r4=0.58, P 0.05). [Conclusions] The leptin probably plays a part in the occurrence and development of endometriosis.
