Abstract

Objective:To investigate the expression and function of matrix metalloproteinase-2(MMP-2) ,matrix metalloproteinase-9(MMP-9) and vascular endothelial growth factor(VEGF) in endometriosis(EMs) ,and to investigate the relationship of MMP-2,MMP-9 and VEGF in the occurrence of endometriosis development. Methods:The expression of MMP-2,MMP-9 and VEGF in 36 cases of ectopic endometrium,36 cases of eutopic endometrial and 20 cases of normal endometrium were detected by two-step immunohistochemical method. Results:The MMP-2,MMP-9 and VEGF positive expression rate was 94.4%,91.7% and 91.7% respectively in the ectopic endometrium group, which were significantly higher than their counterparts in the eutopic endometrial group and the normal endometrium group(P0.05) ;there was not significant difference between the eutopic endometrial group and the normal endometrium group. Conclusion:Detection of MMP-2,MMP-9 and VEGF expression can be used to determine EMs invasion, metastasis and prognosis' evaluation.
