Frequency and features of anemia in women of reproductive age

Abstract

BACKGROUND: The aim of this study was to assess the frequency and characteristics of anemia among women of reproductive age.METHODS: The study included 2407 patients who underwent examination and treatment at the Clinic of the KSMU in 2018, the average age was 36.71±6.32 years. All patients underwent general clinical studies, gynecological examination and treatment.RESULTS: The frequency of anemia among women of reproductive age was 24.6%, mild anemia (HGB 119-90 g/L) - 34.5%; moderate anemia (HGB 89-70 g/L) - 18.2%, severe anemia (HGB <69 g/L)- 0.6%. Latent iron deficiency was detected in 21.6% (518) of women of reproductive age. For the first time revealed anemia was registered in 70.3% of patients. The structure of gynecological diseases in women of reproductive age with anemia includes the following diseases: uterine fibroids 34.9% (387), endometrial pathology-23.7% (263), ovarian diseases-16.8% (187), adenomyosis - 9.6% (106), cervical pathology - 7.4% (82) and infertility - 7.6% (84).CONCLUSIONS: The combination of therapeutic treatment of hemoglobin reduction and specialized gynecological care allows to achieve 100% result in compensation of iron deficiency in women of reproductive age.
