Abstract
Objective:To investigate the levels in blood serum and abdominal cavity fluid in women with endometriosis. Methods:Levels of Interleukin-lβin blood serum and abdominal cavity fluid were determined by a solid quantitative sandwich enzyme immunoassay technique(Sandwich ELISA)both in endometriosis group and in controls, and relationship of monocyte chemo attractant protein-1 levels in blood serum and in abdominal cavity fluid were analyzed. Results:Mean(±SEM)blood serum concentrations of Interleukin-lβwere increased(P0.01) in endometriosis(87.1±36)pg/ml than controls(74.94±27)pg/ml. Concentrations of monocyte Interleukin -1β cavity fluid were increased(P0.01)in endometriosis(162±65)pg/ml than controls(194.6±41)pg/ml.In endometriosis, spearman correlations analysis demonstrated that concentrations of Interleukin-l β in blood serum was positively correlated with those in abdominal cavity fluid(r=0.382,P=0.004).In controls, concentrations of Interleukin-1 β in blood serum had no correlation with abdominal cavity fluid(r=0.105,P=0.311).Conclusion:Serum levers of Interleukin-1β in endometriosis increase significantly and higher concentrations of monocyte chemo attractant protein-1 may be partly responsible for endometriosis in a special way.
