This 2018 review paper examines chronic pelvic pain syndrome in women, focusing on the need for an interdisciplinary approach involving obstetrician-gynecologists and neurologists across the full care pathway from prevention and diagnosis through treatment and long-term medical supervision. It highlights existing contradictions in management, emphasizing the need for a single classification and more individualized treatment approaches to address these discrepancies. A key limitation explicitly implied by the format is that it is a narrative review rather than original data, relying on previously published sources. The paper does not explicitly discuss endometriosis or adenomyosis; it was included in the corpus via a keyword match in the upstream search index.
