Abstract

Objective To investigate the relationship between the progesterone receptor(PR)and endometriosis. Methods Eutopic endometria were obtained from the operated patients with endometriosis(endometriosis group)and the patients with cervical intraepithelial neoplasia(control group). Some endometria were transplanted into the peritoneal cavity of nude mice respectively in the correspondent endometriosis and control group as the ectopic endometria. The expressions of PRA and PRB were examined by Western blotting, and the results were compared. Results PRA was detected positively in all eutopic endometria in both endometriosis and control groups. The level was lower in the endometriosis group than in the control group, but the difference was not significant(P0.05);PRB was expressed negatively in eutopic endometrium of the endometriosis group but positively in that of the control group. The level was lower significantly in the endometriosis than in the control(P0.01).Conclusion The absence of PRB in both eutopic and ectopic endometria in patients with endometriosis may be associated with endometriosis.
