Abstract

Objective To evaluate the expression and localization of VEGF-165in ectopic and eutopic endometrium from women with and without endometriosis, thereby to determine the role of it in the pathogenesis of endometriosis. Methods The expression of VEGF-165protein on paraffin_embedded tissues was detected by imˉmunohistochemical analysis _LSAB and image analysis. The study included endometriotic tissues(n=26)and matched eutopic endometrium(n=15)of patients with endometriosis and eutopic endometrium of normal menstruatˉing women without endometriosis(n=20).Results The variant expression of VEGF-165was detected in both eutopic and ectopic endometrium.Ectopic tissues showed statistically stronger VEGF-165protein compared with eutopic endometrium from normal and endometriosis patients(P0.05).However,we did not find their different expression between eutopic endometrium of women with endometriosis and normal controls. Conclusions Ectopic endometrium displayed greater VEGF-165expression.These results suggest that VEGF play an important role in the pathogenesis of the disease.
