Training for parents of children with autism: a systematic review

Abstract
Abstract Purpose: This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of parental training as a tool for parents of children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), with a focus on expanding these children's social skills. Methods: Using a systematic review approach with qualitative and quantitative content analysis, nine scientific articles were analyzed in the format of empirical research. Among the studies, some works with randomized clinical trials, the Prisma protocol guided the critical analysis to validate the quality of the research articles. Results: The results highlight the fundamental need for parent training to enhance the success of behavioral intervention in ASD. Scientific evidence points to better prognoses for treatments based on ABA science, emphasizing the importance of including parents in the process. The findings recommend structured theoretical and practical training sessions, with clear guidelines, modeling, training and feedback to reinforce the continuity of the process, showing positive results. Conclusion: The study strengthens the concept of parental training for children with ASD, based on a teaching protocol, involving qualified professionals. The implementation of structured interventions, combined with parental psychological guidance, contributes significantly to reducing autism symptoms and improving the quality of life of these families.
