Coincidence of uterine malformations and endometriosis: a clinically relevant problem?
This retrospective study found a high prevalence of endometriosis in women with uterine malformations, suggesting it should be specifically screened for in these patients.

This retrospective study evaluated 279 patients admitted to a single hospital between 01.12.2014 and 30.11.2019 to determine whether women with uterine malformations had a higher prevalence of histologically confirmed endometriosis (peritoneal, ovarian, or deep infiltrating). Among the cohort, 94.2% had non-obstructive uterine malformations and 4.3% had obstructive malformations; overall, 74.9% had endometriosis, including additional deep infiltrating lesions in 27 cases. The authors conclude that endometriosis is highly prevalent in this setting and state as a limitation that, being retrospective and hospital-based, the data rely on this admitted population rather than a population-based sample. This paper is centrally about endometriosis — it investigates the coincidence of uterine malformations with endometriosis and reports a high endometriosis prevalence in women with these anomalies.
