Abstract

Abstract We develop a new algorithm for efficiently solving the Wigner equation utilizing a path integral approach. This method is similar to classical path integral methods used in transport, radiation transfer, and molecular dynamics. This results in a simulation scheme that is favorable to parallelization, intuitive, and efficient in its utilization of memory resources. We compare the results of this method with those of a Schrodinger solver for two representative test systems, namely a Gaussian wavepacket incident on a Gaussian barrier, and a system prepared in a harmonic oscillator ground state subjected to an external perturbation.
