Abstract
Objective:To investigate the relationship of dysfunctional uterine bleeding(DUB) and the expression of matrix metalloproteinase-9(MMP-9,gelatinase B) and the tissue inhibitor of metalloproteinase-1(TIMP-1).Methods:36 samples were divided into two groups. The experiment group included 22 samples of simple hyperplasia endometrium and 14 samples of complex hyperplasia endometrium which were taken from DUB patients. The control group including 15 samples which were taken from myoma patients whose menstrual cycle was normal and got hysterectomy. The expressions of MMP-9 and TIMP-1 mRNA were studied with reverse transcriptase polymerase chain reaction(RT-PCR). Results:MMP-9 mRNA was significantly higher not only in simple hyperplasia DUB patients but also in complex hyperplasia DUB patients than that in proliferative stage of normal endometrium, but TIMP-1 mRNA was significantly lower in DUB patients than that in proliferative stage of normal endometrium(P0.01).Conclusion:MMP-9 and TIMP-1 correlate well with the occurrence of DBU together. Their change affects the uterine bleeding by influencing the local microcircumstance of uterus.
