Abstract

Abstract In modern wireless communication systems, ensuring reliable and high-capacity transmission has become increasingly challenging due to high user mobility and time-varying fading channels, which cause severe Doppler and delay dispersion. Conventional modulation schemes such as OFDM suffer from significant performance degradation under such rapidly varying conditions, motivating the exploration of new modulation paradigms. Among them, Orthogonal Time Frequency Space (OTFS) modulation has recently attracted significant attention for its ability to effectively represent doubly dispersive channels in the delay–Doppler domain, thereby maintaining robustness in high-mobility scenarios. However, OTFS systems still face challenges such as high peak-to-average power ratio (PAPR) and complex multi-user (MU) interference management, which limit their practical deployment in power- and bandwidth-constrained environments. To address these challenges, we extend our previously proposed low-PAPR page-style OTFS modulation framework, which introduces a structured pilot placement strategy to enhance channel estimation accuracy and robustness against mobility-induced impairments. In this extended study, we further analyze the impact of user mobility, subcarrier configuration, and number of active users on the overall system performance. Simulation results demonstrate that the proposed framework achieves a superior bit error rate (BER), reduced PAPR, and improved spectral efficiency compared with conventional schemes, while maintaining robustness under high-speed mobility and scalable user loads. These findings confirm that the proposed page-style OTFS is a promising candidate for next-generation MU communication networks.

challenging due to high user mobility and time-varying fading channels, which cause severe Doppler and delay dispersion. Conventional modulation schemes such as OFDM suffer from significant performance degradation under such rapidly varying conditions, motivating the exploration of new modulation paradigms.\nAmong them, Orthogonal Time Frequency Space (OTFS) modulation has recently attracted significant attention for its ability to effectively represent doubly dispersive channels in the delay–Doppler domain, thereby maintaining robustness in high-mobility scenarios. However, OTFS systems still face challenges such as high peak-to-average power ratio (PAPR) and complex multi-user (MU) interference management, which limit their practical deployment in power- and bandwidth-constrained environments.\nTo address these challenges, we extend our previously proposed low-PAPR page-style OTFS modulation framework, which introduces a structured pilot placement strategy to enhance channel estimation accuracy and robustness against mobility-induced impairments. In this extended study, we further analyze the impact of user mobility, subcarrier configuration, and number of active users on the overall system performance. Simulation results demonstrate that the proposed framework achieves a superior bit error rate (BER), reduced PAPR, and improved spectral efficiency compared with conventional schemes, while maintaining robustness under high-speed mobility and scalable user loads. These findings confirm that the proposed page-style OTFS is a promising candidate for next-generation MU communication networks.","manuscriptTitle":"Performance Analysis of Low-PAPR Page-Style Multi-User OTFS Modulation under Varying Mobility, Subcarrier Configurations, and User Scalability","msid":"","msnumber":"","nonDraftVersions":[{"code":1,"date":"2026-01-19 08:37:47","doi":"10.21203/rs.3.rs-8083852/v1","editorialEvents":[{"type":"communityComments","content":0},{"type":"decision","content":"Major revision","date":"2026-03-11T19:23:40+00:00","index":"","fulltext":""},{"type":"reviewerAgreed","content":"","date":"2026-01-14T14:44:04+00:00","index":0,"fulltext":""},{"type":"reviewersInvited","content":"","date":"2026-01-14T14:03:08+00:00","index":"","fulltext":""},{"type":"editorAssigned","content":"","date":"2025-11-18T05:30:44+00:00","index":"","fulltext":""},{"type":"submitted","content":"EURASIP Journal on Wireless Communications and Networking","date":"2025-11-14T02:07:55+00:00","index":"","fulltext":""}],"status":"published","journal":{"display":true,"email":"[email protected]","identity":"eurasip-journal-on-wireless-communications-and-networking","isNatureJournal":false,"hasQc":true,"allowDirectSubmit":false,"externalIdentity":"jwcn","sideBox":"Learn more about [EURASIP Journal on Wireless Communications and Networking](http://jwcn-eurasipjournals.springeropen.com)","snPcode":"","submissionUrl":"https://www.editorialmanager.com/jwcn/default.aspx","title":"EURASIP Journal on Wireless Communications and Networking","twitterHandle":"@SpringerEng","acdcEnabled":true,"dfaEnabled":true,"editorialSystem":"em","reportingPortfolio":"BMC/SO AJ","inReviewEnabled":true,"inReviewRevisionsEnabled":true}}],"origin":"","ownerIdentity":"406786ad-d87d-4a4f-87e3-113a9b9819f0","owner":[],"postedDate":"January 19th, 2026","published":true,"recentEditorialEvents":[],"rejectedJournal":[],"revision":"","amendment":"","status":"in-revision","subjectAreas":[],"tags":[],"updatedAt":"2026-03-11T23:24:06+00:00","versionOfRecord":[],"versionCreatedAt":"2026-01-19 08:37:47","video":"","vorDoi":"","vorDoiUrl":"","workflowStages":[]},"version":"v1","identity":"rs-8083852","journalConfig":"researchsquare"},"__N_SSP":true},"page":"/article/[identity]/[[...version]]","query":{"redirect":"/article/rs-8083852","identity":"rs-8083852","version":["v1"]},"buildId":"XKTyCvWXoU3ODBz1xrDgd","isFallback":false,"isExperimentalCompile":false,"dynamicIds":[84888],"gssp":true,"scriptLoader":[]}
