There are significant shifts of glutathione system in blood in patients suffered from ulcerative colitis. The concentration of glutathione in RBCs decreases in a line: distal> left-side> total affection. The level of glutathione in plasma in patients i'§ increased. Activity of glutathione S-transferase and glutathione reductase increase both in RBCs and in plasma in distal and left-side localization, but not in total. The revealed changes would take part in pathogenesis of ulcerative colitis. To the end of hospital stay, just part of parameters is normalized.
