Transcription characteristics of chemokine receptors in endometrium and endometrial tissues

Abstract
Objective To evaluate the expression of chemokine IL-8/CXCR1 in the eutopic endometriosis.Methods Immunohistochemistry was used to detect the protein expression of IL-8/CXCR1 in the eutopic endometrium and ectopic foci of endometriosis,with the endometrium of normal fertile women as control in the Fudan University Shanghai Medical College from Sep.2003 to Jan.2005.Results The expression of CXCR1 showed no difference between the gland and stroma in normal endometrium (OD value was 9.03±1.75 versus 8.56±1.59,P0.05),but expression of CXCR1 in the gland was significantly higher than that of stroma in the eutopic endometrium (OD value was 22.86±2.45 versus 13.07±1.88,P0.05).In normal endometrium,expression of IL-8 was significantly higher in stroma than in gland (OD value was 8.25±1.96 versus 3.39±0.98,P0.05),while IL-8 expression showed no significantly difference between stroma and gland in the eutopic endometrium(OD value was 16.86±2.42 versus 15.78±2.78,P0.05).The expression of IL-8/CXCR1 in the eutopic endometrium was significantly higher than that of the normal endometrium(OD value was 17.13±2.53/13.89±1.76 versus 8.65±1.89/7.48±1.02,P0.05),while the expression of IL-8/CXCR1 in the ectopic foci was significantly higher than that of the eutopic endometrium(OD value was 25.32±4.38/22.84±4.21 versus 17.13±2.53/13.89±1.76,P0.05).Conclusion IL-8/CXCR1 is involved in the pathogenesis and development of endometriosis.
