Clinical observation of 300 cases of uterine myomata and endometrioma by uterine arterial embolization

Abstract

Objective To assess the clinical effects and side effects of uterine arterial embolization(UAE)on uterine myomata and endometrioma. Methods UAE was performed on 300 patients with uterine myomata or endometrioma who had no effects by medicine treatment. All patients were followed up for 3 to 36 months to observe the changes of clinical symptoms and uterine myomata size and ovarian function.Results All clinical symptoms of17 patients were relieved. The size of uterine myomata decreased. Before and after therapy there was no significant difference in hormone levels. Conclusion UAE is an effective method for decreasing the size of myomata and uterine, and it does not result in the damage of ovarian hormone secretion.
