The study of extrapelvic endometriosis in 20 cases

Abstract
Objective To study 20 patients who developed extrapelvic endometriosis, 17 cases of abdominal wall, and 3 perineum.Methods Clinical data of 20 patients with extrapelvic endometriosis confirmed by pathology from January 1993 to August 2001 admitted in our gynecological ward were analyzed retrospectively. Results The diagnosis could be made according to the typical symptoms and examinations.In all cases the treatment applied was complete surgical excision of the lesion. None of 17 patients had recurrence during the follow - up period ranging from 0.5 ~ 5 years, however, the follow - up of 3 cases were lost.Conclusion Wide excision of these kind of endometriosis offers the best chance to prevent recurrence.
