Correlation of Smad7 and endometriosis

Objective To study the correlation of Smad7 and endometriosis.Methods Thirty inpatients with endometriosis for operation were investigated.Their endometrial tissues were assigned into group A(the ectopic endometrium) and group B(the eutopic endometrium).The controls were the inpatients with uterine malformation for operations at the same time.The normal endometrium was investigated.Immunohistochemical method was employed to detect the expression of Smad7.Results The expressions of Smad7 in group A and group B were lower than in group C(P0.05);but there was no significant difference between group A and group B(P0.05);In three groups,the expression of Smad7 was no significant different between the proliferative phase endometrium and the secretive phase endometrium(P0.05).Conclusion Smad7 may play an important role in the pathogenisis and development of endometriosis.
