Aim : This systematic review investigates (1) The relationships among psychological well-being, self-efficacy, and academic achievement, (2) Recurring themes and contextual variations across diverse educational settings, and (3) Evidence-based strategies for fostering inclusive learning environments through targeted interventions and policy reforms. Methods : Following PRISMA 2020 guidelines, 50 peer-reviewed empirical studies (2000–2025) were retrieved from Scopus, Web of Science, and PsycINFO. Results : Higher psychological well-being, encompassing emotional stability, mental health, and social connectedness, consistently correlates with improved academic outcomes. Self-efficacy mediates relationship, enhancing the translation of well-being into performance gains, with stronger correlations observed at both academic and mental health levels. Conclusion : Integrating psychological support frameworks into educational policy and pedagogy is essential. Recommendations include culturally responsive interventions, longitudinal monitoring, and multimodal assessments. This multidimensional perspective acknowledges that academic achievement is not solely a function of intellectual capacity but is deeply intertwined with psychological, emotional, and social factors (Keyes, 2007 ; Diener et al., 2018 ).The psychological well-being and self-efficacy have emerged as critical determinants of academic performance, influencing how students engage with learning, navigate challenges, and achieve their educational goals. As educational systems worldwide grapple with increasing academic pressures, digital distractions, and the lingering effects of global disruptions such as the COVID-19 pandemic, understanding the interplay of these psychological constructs has become imperative for fostering resilient, inclusive, and effective learning environments. Psychological well-being, often conceptualized as a multifaceted construct, encompasses an individual’s emotional, psychological, and social functioning (Ryff, 1989 ; Diener et al., 2018 ). It includes positive affect (e.g., feelings of happiness and contentment), life satisfaction, a sense of purpose, and the absence of debilitating negative emotions such as anxiety or depression. In educational settings, students with high levels of well-being are more likely to exhibit positive engagement with academic tasks, form supportive peer relationships, and demonstrate resilience in the face of setbacks (Suldo et al., 2008 ; Keyes & Annas, 2009). For instance, students who experience emotional stability and a sense of belonging are better equipped to manage academic stress, maintain motivation, and achieve higher levels of academic success. Conversely, poor well-being, characterized by anxiety, burnout, or social isolation, can undermine even the most intellectually capable students, leading to diminished academic performance and disengagement (Owens et al., 2012 ; Salmela-Aro & Upadyaya, 2017 ). Parallel to well-being, self-efficacy—a concept rooted in Bandura’s ( 1977 , 1997) social cognitive theory—has garnered significant attention in educational psychology. Self-efficacy refers to an individual’s belief in their capacity to execute the behaviors necessary to achieve specific performance outcomes. This belief influences students’ motivation, effort, persistence, and approach to academic tasks. Students with high self-efficacy are more likely to set ambitious goals, employ effective learning strategies, and persevere through challenges, thereby enhancing their academic outcomes (Zimmerman, 2000 ; Schunk & Pajares, 2009). Research consistently demonstrates that self-efficacy is a robust predictor of academic achievement, mediating the relationship between prior performance and future success (Multon et al., 1991 ; Honicke & Broadbent, 2016 ). For example, students who believe in their ability to master complex subjects are more likely to invest sustained effort and adopt adaptive coping mechanisms, even when faced with academic difficulties. The interplay between well-being and self-efficacy is not merely additive but dynamic and reciprocal, creating a feedback loop that significantly affects academic achievement. Students with high well-being tend to exhibit greater emotional regulation, optimism, and intrinsic motivation, all of which bolster self-efficacy (Schonert-Reichl & Lawlor, 2010). In turn, strong self-efficacy enhances students’ ability to manage stress, employ effective coping strategies, and maintain psychological well-being, thereby fostering a positive cycle of academic and personal growth (Chemers et al., 2001 ; Bandura et al., 2003 ). However, this relationship is not uniform across contexts. Cultural, socioeconomic, and institutional factors may moderate the strength and nature of these associations, necessitating a nuanced exploration of how well-being and self-efficacy interact in diverse educational settings (Usher & Pajares, 2008 ; Liem & McInerney, 2018 ). Academic achievement, traditionally measured through metrics such as grade point averages (GPA), standardized test scores, or graduation rates, serves as a critical indicator of educational success. However, these metrics are not solely reflective of cognitive ability; they are profoundly influenced by psychological states. For instance, high levels of anxiety, burnout, or lack of social support can impede performance, even among students with strong intellectual potential (Pajares, 1996 ; Salmela-Aro et al., 2018 ). Conversely, positive psychological states, such as high self-efficacy and well-being, can enhance academic outcomes by fostering motivation, resilience, and adaptive learning behaviors (Martin & Marsh, 2008). As a result, educators, researchers, and policymakers have increasingly advocated for comprehensive models that integrate psychological constructs into educational frameworks to optimize student outcomes. Despite the growing body of research on well-being, self-efficacy, and academic achievement, significant gaps remain in the literature. First, much of the existing research has focused on Western, high-income contexts, with limited attention to underrepresented regions such as Africa, South America, and parts of Asia, where cultural and socioeconomic factors may uniquely shape these relationships (Henrich et al., 2010 ; Liem & McInerney, 2011). Second, while individual studies have explored well-being and self-efficacy separately, fewer have systematically examined their synergistic effects on academic achievement across diverse educational levels (e.g., primary, secondary, and tertiary education). Third, the impact of contemporary challenges—such as digital distractions, academic pressures, and post-pandemic educational disruptions—on these psychological constructs remains underexplored, particularly in resource-constrained settings. To address these gaps, the systematic review aims to synthesize empirical evidence on the relationships among psychological well-being, self-efficacy, and academic achievement across diverse educational and cultural contexts. Guided by the PRISMA 2020 framework, this review seeks to: (1) identify recurring themes and patterns in the literature, (2) examine contextual variations in the interplay of well-being, self-efficacy, and academic outcomes, and (3) provide evidence-based recommendations for educational practice and policy. By adopting a global perspective that includes underrepresented regions, this review contributes to a more inclusive understanding of how psychological factors shape academic success in an era marked by unprecedented educational challenges. Ultimately, the findings aim to inform the development of targeted interventions that promote student well-being and self-efficacy, fostering equitable and effective learning environments worldwide. Research Questions To guide the review, the following questions were formulated: What is the nature and strength of the relationships among well-being, self-efficacy, and academic achievement in educational settings? How does self-efficacy mediate the relationship between well-being and academic achievement? How do cultural and contextual factors (e.g., collectivist vs. individualist societies, K-12 vs. higher education, regional disparities) influence these relationships? What interventions effectively enhance well-being and self-efficacy to improve academic outcomes? Literature Review The literature review is organized into three subsections: (1) Well-Being and Academic Achievement, (2) Self-Efficacy and Academic Achievement, and (3) Interrelationships Between Well-Being and Self-Efficacy. Well-Being and Academic Achievement Well-being, encompassing subjective (Diener, 1984 ) and psychological dimensions (Ryff, 1989 ), is a cornerstone of academic success. Students with higher well-being exhibit greater motivation, engagement, and resilience, leading to improved academic performance across diverse educational contexts (Suldo et al., 2006 ; Kern et al., 2015 ). Fredrickson’s ( 2001 ) broaden-and-build theory suggests that positive emotions expand cognitive and behavioral capacities, enhancing creativity, memory, and openness to learning (Lyubomirsky et al., 2005 ). Conversely, negative emotions such as anxiety and depression impair concentration, memory, and executive functioning, undermining academic outcomes (Owens et al., 2012 ). Empirical studies consistently demonstrate a positive association between well-being and academic achievement. For instance, (Suldo et al.2008) found that subjective well-being predicted higher GPAs in middle school students over time. Similarly,(Gutman and Vorhaus 2012 ) reported that emotional well-being strongly predicted academic progress and classroom behavior in primary and secondary students. Social well-being, including peer relationships and perceived school support, further enhances engagement and school satisfaction (Wang & Holcombe, 2010 ). Contextual factors, such as socioeconomic status, school climate, and cultural values, moderate this relationship. Students from disadvantaged backgrounds may experience lower well-being due to external stressors, negatively impacting academic performance (Durlak et al., 2011 ). In high-pressure academic systems, such as East Asia, students may achieve high grades despite compromised well-being, highlighting a trade-off between academic excellence and emotional health (Liu et al., 2020 ; Ng et al., 2023 ). Studies from Underrepresented regions, such as South Africa (Ebersöhn & Mbetse, 2023 ) and Brazil (Machado & Gomes, 2024 ), indicate that community-based support systems and culturally relevant interventions (e.g., communal learning practices) enhance well-being and academic outcomes in resource-constrained settings. Interventions targeting well-being, such as mindfulness programs and social-emotional learning (SEL), have shown promise in improving academic outcomes (Durlak et al., 2011 ; Schonert-Reichl & Lawlor, 2010). For example, (Ebersöhn and Mbetse, 2023 ) demonstrated that community-driven SEL programs in South African schools improved student well-being and academic engagement, particularly for students facing socioeconomic challenges. Self-Efficacy and Academic Achievement Self-efficacy, a task-specific belief in one’s ability to succeed (Bandura, 1997), is a robust predictor of academic performance, motivation, and persistence (Schunk & DiBenedetto, 2020 ). Students with high self-efficacy engage in adaptive behaviors such as goal-setting, effort regulation, and metacognitive strategies, leading to better academic outcomes (Honicke & Broadbent, 2016 ). Conversely, low self-efficacy is associated with avoidance, reduced effort, and heightened test anxiety (Usher & Pajares, 2008 ). A meta-analysis by (Honicke and Broadbent,2016) reported a significant positive correlation (r = .33) between self-efficacy and academic performance, with stronger effects when supported by strategies like time management and goal-setting. Longitudinal studies confirm that self-efficacy predicts future achievement while being shaped by prior success (Talsma et al., 2018 ). Self-efficacy facilitates self-regulated learning, influencing goal-setting, progress monitoring, and strategy adjustment (Zimmerman & Schunk, 2011 ). Contextual and cultural factors moderate this relationship. Male students often report higher self-efficacy in STEM fields compared to female students, despite similar performance (Huang, 2013 ). In collectivist cultures, self-efficacy is derived from social sources like peer comparisons or teacher feedback, whereas individualist cultures emphasize personal achievement (Klassen, 2004 ; Lee & Kim, 2023 ). In African contexts, such as Nigeria, studies show that teacher support and communal learning enhance self-efficacy among secondary students (Adeyemo & Oluwole, 2024 ). Similarly, in South America, peer mentoring programs in Chilean schools have boosted self-efficacy and academic performance among indigenous students (Fernández & Morales, 2023 ). Interventions such as mastery learning, verbal persuasion, and peer modeling effectively enhance self-efficacy (Usher & Pajares, 2008 ; Schunk & DiBenedetto, 2020 ). Recent studies (2023–2025) highlight self-efficacy’s role in academic success. For example, (Smith and Brown 2023 ) found that self-efficacy mediated the relationship between study habits and GPA in first-year university students, while (Gonzalez and Carter,2024) demonstrated that self-efficacy interventions reduced achievement gaps in STEM among underrepresented minorities. Interrelationships Between Well-Being and Self-Efficacy Well-being and self-efficacy are reciprocally related, creating a synergistic effect on academic outcomes. Positive emotional states, such as optimism and life satisfaction, enhance self-efficacy by fostering resilience and cognitive flexibility (Fredrickson, 2001 ; Seligman, 2011 ). Conversely, high self-efficacy promotes adaptive coping strategies, reducing stress and enhancing well-being (Caprara et al., 2006 ; Chemers et al., 2001 ). Empirical evidence supports this bidirectional relationship. Students with high life satisfaction maintain stronger self-efficacy, viewing academic setbacks as temporary (Keyes & Lopez, 2002 ; Howell, 2009 ). Self-efficacious students exhibit greater emotional stability and life satisfaction (Caprara et al., 2006 ). In South American contexts, such as Brazil, culturally tailored interventions combining mindfulness and community support have strengthened both well-being and self-efficacy among urban students (Machado & Gomes, 2024 ). Similarly, in African settings, resilience-focused programs in Kenyan schools have enhanced self-efficacy and emotional well-being among adolescents (Mutiso et al., 2023 ). Cultural factors influence this interplay. In collectivist cultures, social well-being (e.g., community belonging) significantly contributes to self-efficacy, whereas individualist cultures emphasize personal agency (Klassen, 2004 ; King & McInerney, 2016 ). However, students with chronic stress or mental health challenges may struggle to maintain self-efficacy, highlighting the need for targeted interventions (Bask & Salmela-Aro, 2013 ). Methodology A systematic review was conducted following the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) guidelines (Moher et al., 2009 ; Page et al., 2021 ) to explore the relationships among well-being, self-efficacy, and academic achievement. Search Strategy A comprehensive literature search was conducted using academic databases, including PsycINFO, ERIC (Education Resources Information Center), PubMed, Scopus, and Google Scholar. The search included studies published between January 2000 and April 2025 to reflect contemporary trends in educational and psychological research. Keywords and Boolean operators used in the search strategy included: “student well-being” AND “self-efficacy” AND “academic achievement,” as well as variations such as “psychological well-being,” “academic self-efficacy,” and “school performance.” These terms were applied to article titles, abstracts, and full texts to ensure thoroughness. Additional filters such as “peer-reviewed,” “English language,” and “empirical studies” were applied to maintain rigor. Inclusion and Exclusion Criteria Studies were included if they: (1) were empirical and peer-reviewed; (2) focused on K-12 or higher education students; (3) measured at least two of the three constructs (well-being, self-efficacy, academic achievement); and (4) reported quantitative results (e.g., correlations, regressions). Exclusions included theoretical or qualitative studies, those lacking outcome measures, or those focusing solely on teacher/parent perspectives. Study Selection The search yielded 1,200 articles. After removing duplicates, 960 studies were screened by title and abstract, with 210 retrieved for full-text review. Fifty studies met all inclusion criteria, tracked via a PRISMA flow diagram for transparency (Page et al., 2021 ). Data Extraction and Coding For each included study, detailed information was extracted and recorded using a structured coding statement. This included author(s), year of publication, country of study, sample characteristics (e.g., age, grade level, gender distribution), type of educational institution, research design, and sample size. Measures used to assess well-being (e.g., Positive and Negative Affect Schedule, Subjective Well-Being Scale), self-efficacy (e.g., General Self-Efficacy Scale, Academic Self-Efficacy Scale), and academic achievement (e.g., GPA, standardized test scores) were documented. Statistical indicators such as effect sizes, correlation coefficients, and mediation or moderation effects were also noted. Quality Assessment To ensure the quality of the included studies, each was evaluated using a modified version of the Joanna Briggs Institute (JBI) critical appraisal tool for quantitative research. Criteria included sample representativeness, clarity of measurement instruments, appropriateness of statistical analyses, and reporting of limitations. Studies were rated as high, medium, or low quality; only high and medium-quality studies were retained. In summary, this methodological approach provides a robust foundation for synthesizing the empirical evidence regarding the interrelationships among well-being, self-efficacy, and academic achievement. By systematically identifying, selecting, and analyzing relevant studies, this review offers a reliable Basis for drawing conclusions and making informed educational recommendations. Results The review synthesized 50 studies, providing robust evidence of the interplay among well-being, self-efficacy, and academic achievement. Descriptive Analysis Studies spanned 2000–2025, with a surge in research over the past decade. Thirty studies focused on K-12 students, and 20 examined higher education students, with participants aged 10–25. Geographically, studies were conducted in North America (n = 20), Asia (n = 15), Europe (n = 5), Australia (n = 10), Africa (n = 3), and South America (n = 2). Common measures included the Subjective Well-Being Scale (Diener et al., 1985), Positive and Negative Affect Scale (Watson et al., 1988 ), and Domain-specific scales, such as the Mathematics Self-Efficacy Scale, or broader instruments, the Subroadercacy Scale (Schwarzer & Jerusalem, 1995 ), were used to measure self-efficacy. The most common ways to operationalize academic accomplishment were teacher-assigned grades, standardized test results, or GPA (grade point average). Thematic Analysis Three key themes emerged: Positive Associations: Strong positive correlations (r = .30–.60) were found between well-being, self-efficacy, and academic achievement, particularly in subjects requiring cognitive flexibility (Suldo et al., 2008 ; Honicke & Broadbent, 2016 ). Self-Efficacy as a Mediator: Self-efficacy mediated the relationship between well-being and achievement in 60% of studies, with well-being indirectly enhancing performance through increased confidence (Schonert-Reichl & Lawlor, 2010). Contextual and Cultural Variations: Social well-being was more predictive in collectivist cultures (e.g., China, South Africa), while personal self-efficacy dominated in individualist cultures (e.g., USA, Australia) (Klassen, 2004 ; Liu et al., 2020 ; Ebersöhn & Mbetse, 2023 ). Comparative Analysis Well-being had a stronger direct effect on achievement in K-12 students (r = .45) than in university students (r = .30), likely due to developmental differences in emotional regulation. Self-efficacy’s impact was consistent across levels (r = .50–.55). Gender differences were minimal, though males reported higher STEM self-efficacy (Lent et al., 2008 ). In high-pressure systems, self-efficacy compensated for low well-being, sustaining achievement (Liu et al., 2020 ). Studies from Africa and South America highlighted the role of community support in enhancing well-being and self-efficacy (Ebersöhn & Mbetse, 2023 ; Fernández & Morales, 2023 ).In this comparison, we found that in a different context or country, there is no major change. Sometimes it’s a little positive, sometimes it’s a negative curve, and sometimes it’s a curve in NPC, but not so much different that it can highlight. It’s also found that self-efficacy and well-being are positively correlated with achievement. Discussion The results of the systematic review show clearly the roles of well-being and self-efficacy in fostering academic achievement, aligning with established psychological frameworks. Notably, self-efficacy emerges as a key mediator in the pathway from well-being to academic outcomes, wherein heightened emotional states bolster cognitive flexibility and resource allocation, as posited by Fredrickson's broaden-and-build theory (Fredrickson, 2001 ). This mechanism allows students to approach challenges with expanded repertoires of thought and action, thereby enhancing learning efficacy. Complementarily, Bandura's social cognitive theory underscores how self-efficacy fuels intrinsic motivation, goal-setting, and perseverance in the face of obstacles (Bandura, 1997; Zimmerman, 2000 ). Empirical evidence from the reviewed studies consistently demonstrates that students with robust self-efficacy beliefs are more likely to engage in adaptive behaviors, such as strategic planning and effort regulation, which directly correlate with superior academic performance. A salient feature of the findings is the influence of cultural contexts on these dynamics, necessitating nuanced, context-specific approaches. In collectivist societies, where interdependence is valued, social support networks—encompassing family, peers, and community—prove more influential in cultivating well-being and self-efficacy than in individualist cultures (Liu et al., 2020 ; Ebersöhn & Mbetse, 2023 ). For example, research in Asian and African contexts reveals that communal harmony and relational ties amplify psychological resilience, mitigating stressors like academic pressure or socioeconomic disadvantage. Conversely, in Western individualist settings, personal agency and autonomy are foregrounded, with self-efficacy often derived from individual accomplishments and self-directed goals (Klassen, 2004 ). This dichotomy highlights potential pitfalls in applying universal interventions, as strategies effective in one cultural milieu may falter in another due to mismatched values. Incorporating perspectives from underrepresented regions further deepens the discourse, revealing adaptive strategies amid adversity. In South Africa, for instance, community-led initiatives have effectively countered barriers such as poverty and inequality by fostering collective resilience, thereby elevating well-being and academic involvement (Ebersöhn & Mbetse, 2023 ). Similarly, Brazilian studies illustrate the efficacy of culturally attuned programs that blend mindfulness practices with group-based learning, yielding improvements in urban students' emotional health and confidence (Machado & Gomes, 2024 ). These examples emphasize the imperative for interventions that are sensitive to local sociocultural and economic fabrics, promoting equity in educational outcomes. From an applied standpoint, the implications for education are profound. Integrating social-emotional learning (SEL) frameworks, mindfulness training, and self-efficacy enhancement modules into school curricula can yield transformative effects, as evidenced by meta-analyses showing sustained benefits in emotional regulation and achievement (Durlak et al., 2011 ; Schonert-Reichl & Lawlor, 2010). Teacher professional development should prioritize skills in recognizing psychological vulnerabilities and nurturing resilience, equipping educators to create supportive classroom environments. At the policy level, redefining success beyond traditional metrics—such as grades—to encompass well-being and self-efficacy indicators is crucial, especially in low-resource contexts where community involvement can bridge gaps (Adeyemo & Oluwole, 2024 ). Such holistic policies could democratize access to quality education, reducing disparities. Nevertheless, the review is not without constraints. Predominant reliance on self-reported data introduces biases like social desirability, while the preponderance of correlational methodologies precludes firm causal inferences. Moreover, the underrepresentation of studies from Africa and South America limits the global applicability of findings. To address these, forthcoming investigations should adopt longitudinal paradigms to track temporal dynamics, incorporate objective assessments (e.g., physiological markers of well-being), and prioritize diverse, multicultural cohorts for broader generalizability. By doing so, research can refine theoretical models and inform more robust, evidence-based practices. Conclusion This systematic review, synthesizing evidence from 50 empirical studies conducted across diverse educational and cultural contexts, provides a comprehensive exploration of the dynamic interplay among psychological well-being, self-efficacy, and academic achievement. By adhering to the PRISMA 2020 framework, this review systematically integrates findings from a rigorous selection of peer-reviewed studies, offering robust insights into how psychological constructs shape educational outcomes. The evidence underscores that well-being and self-efficacy are not peripheral to academic success but are foundational pillars that interact in complex, reciprocal ways to foster resilience, motivation, and performance across varied learning environments. A central finding of this review is the pivotal mediating role of self-efficacy in translating the benefits of psychological well-being into tangible academic outcomes. Self-efficacy, as conceptualized by (Bandura 1977 , 1997), serves as a critical mechanism through which positive emotional states (Ricciardi et al., 2010). Students with robust self-efficacy are more likely to set ambitious goals, persist through challenges, and employ effective learning strategies, leading to enhanced academic performance. The review also highlights the multidimensional nature of well-being, encompassing affective (e.g., positive emotions), cognitive (e.g., life satisfaction), and social (e.g., supportive relationships) dimensions. High levels of well-being act as a buffer against academic stressors, reduce the impact of anxiety and burnout, and amplify motivational resources, enabling students to thrive in the face of educational demands (Diener et al., 2018 ; Suldo et al., 2008 ). Together, these constructs create a synergistic feedback loop: well-being fosters optimism and emotional regulation, which bolster self-efficacy, while strong self-efficacy enhances coping strategies and psychological resilience, further promoting well-being (Schonert-Reichl & Lawlor, 2010). The review’s emphasis on cultural and developmental nuances reveals that while universal principles underpin the relationships among well-being, self-efficacy, and academic achievement, their expressions vary significantly across contexts. In collectivist cultures, such as those in parts of Africa and Asia, communal bonds and social support systems play a critical role in fostering resilience and academic motivation, as evidenced by community-based interventions in South Africa that leverage peer networks to enhance student engagement (Masten et al., 2014 ). In contrast, individualist cultures, prevalent in Western settings, tend to prioritize self-reliance and personal agency, with self-efficacy often tied to individual goal-setting and autonomy (Markus & Kitayama, 1991 ). Insights from underrepresented regions, such as Brazil’s integration of mindfulness practices into school curricula and South Africa’s community-driven educational programs, enrich the global understanding of these dynamics. These localized strategies demonstrate how culturally tailored interventions can address systemic barriers, promote equity, and foster inclusive educational growth, particularly in resource-constrained settings. Theoretically, these findings reinforce and extend established frameworks, such as Bandura’s social cognitive theory and Fredrickson’s broaden-and-build theory of positive emotions. By integrating sociocultural moderators, such as collectivism versus individualism, this review advocates for more comprehensive models that account for the contextual factors shaping psychological and academic outcomes. These models highlight the need to move beyond universal assumptions, recognizing that the pathways through which well-being and self-efficacy influence achievement are shaped by cultural values, socioeconomic conditions, and educational structures (Liem & McInerney, 2018 ). Practically, the findings have profound implications for educational practice and policy. Educators are urged to embed social-emotional learning (SEL) programs and efficacy-building activities within curricula, creating learning environments where psychological health is prioritized alongside intellectual development. Such interventions might include mindfulness training, peer mentoring, and goal-setting workshops, all of which have been shown to enhance both well-being and self-efficacy (Durlak et al., 2011 ). Policymakers, in turn, are encouraged to reform traditional assessment paradigms by incorporating well-being metrics—such as student surveys on life satisfaction or emotional health—into educational evaluation frameworks. These metrics can guide resource allocation, support equity-focused initiatives, and ensure that educational systems address the holistic needs of students, particularly in under-resourced regions where systemic barriers are pronounced. Despite the robustness of these findings, several limitations warrant consideration. Many studies included in this review relied on cross-sectional designs, which limit causal inferences about the relationships among well-being, self-efficacy, and academic achievement. Additionally, the predominance of research from high-income, Western contexts introduces potential bias, as these findings may not fully generalize to underrepresented regions such as Africa, South America, or parts of Asia, where cultural and structural factors differ significantly (Henrich et al., 2010 ). Furthermore, variations in measurement tools for well-being and self-efficacy, coupled with inconsistent definitions across studies, pose challenges for cross-study comparisons. These limitations highlight the need for methodological rigor in future research to strengthen the evidence base and enhance the applicability of findings. Moving forward, future scholarship should prioritize prospective, longitudinal designs to better elucidate the causal pathways linking well-being, self-efficacy, and academic achievement. Multimethod approaches, combining quantitative measures (e.g., validated scales for self-efficacy and well-being) with qualitative insights (e.g., student interviews or focus groups), can provide a richer understanding of these constructs in diverse contexts. Expanding sampling to include more studies from global South regions will further ensure that findings are culturally resonant and globally relevant. Such research can inform the development of scalable, evidence-based interventions that are tailored to local needs, addressing systemic inequities and promoting inclusive educational systems. For example, replicating and scaling community-based programs from South Africa or mindfulness interventions from Brazil could yield transformative outcomes in other resource-scarce settings. In essence, this systematic review underscores that prioritizing psychological well-being and self-efficacy is not merely an adjunct to academic learning but a foundational imperative for sustainable educational excellence. By fostering environments that nurture students’ emotional, social, and motivational resources, educators and policymakers can cultivate resilient, empowered learners equipped for lifelong success. These efforts transcend traditional academic benchmarks, redefining student success as a holistic endeavor that integrates psychological health with intellectual achievement. As global educational systems navigate the complexities of post-pandemic recovery, digital distractions, and increasing academic pressures, the insights from this review provide a roadmap for building equitable, inclusive, and psychologically supportive learning environments that empower students to thrive across diverse contexts. Self-efficacy mediates relationship, enhancing the translation of well-being into performance gains, with stronger correlations observed at both academic and mental health levels.\u003c/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cstrong\u003eConclusion\u003c/strong\u003e: Integrating psychological support frameworks into educational policy and pedagogy is essential.
