Abstract

Abstract STAJe- Phase 1 is a University of Queensland flight program that implements cost effective commercially off-the-shelf (COTS) hardware component which aims to demonstrate high speed (Mach 3–5) electric propulsions. This paper concentrates on the design and manufacturing of customable printed circuit boards which are required to integrate with the mechanical design. It is an example of interdisciplinary collaboration made simple by using modern design and manufacturing approaches. These approaches also allow for rapid manufacturing and ground testing of the system. The functionality and challenges with the mechanical interfaces of each electronic sub-system for STAJe- Phase 1 payload is discussed within a framework of predefined scientific requirements.
