Abstract

Background: Endometriosis is a chronic, debilitating condition characterized by persistent pelvic pain and significantly compromised quality of life (QoL). Conventional treatments often have limitations, driving the need for complementary, holistic interventions. Aim: This study evaluated the impact of a nurse-delivered green-space (nature) therapy program on managing chronic pelvic pain and quality of life in women with endometriosis. Method: A randomized controlled trial was conducted. A purposive sample of 120 women with endometriosis was recruited. Setting: The sample was collected from the outpatient gynecology clinics at El-Fayoum University Hospitals. Participants were randomly assigned into two equal groups: the intervention group, which participated in a 4-week, nurse-guided green-space therapy program, and the control group, which received Standardized hospital care. Tools:Demographic and Clinical Questionnaire; Pain intensity was measured using the Visual Analog Scale (VAS), and QoL was assessed via the Endometriosis Health Profile (EHP-30) at baseline, postintervention, and a 2-month follow-up. Results: Post-intervention, the green-space therapy group demonstrated a statistically significant reduction in mean pelvic pain scores compared to the control group (p < 0.001). Furthermore, significant improvements were recorded across all EHP-30 domains, particularly emotional well-being, social support, and pain control (p < 0.001). These therapeutic benefits remained sustained at the 2-month follow-up. Conclusion: Nurse-delivered green-space therapy is an effective, non-pharmacological intervention that mitigates chronic pelvic pain and enhances the overall quality of life for women living with endometriosis. Recommendations:Integrating nature-based therapies into holistic nursing care plans offers a promising avenue for chronic symptom management.
