Abstract

Objective:To explore the inhibiting effect of atorvastatin on the rat endometriosis and the relationship between the inhibition effect and the expression of matrix metalloproteinase-9(MMP-9).Method:The Wistar rat models of autologous transplantation endometrosis were established, after 4 weeks the successful endometriosis models were divided into 4 groups, the control group, low dosage group, medium one, high one.the rats were treated by means of abdominal cavity injection for 14 days successively. Before and after injection the ectopia nidus volume and size were observed, and the concentration of MMP-9 in rats serum by ELISA.Results:The ectopic nidus volume of each therapy group was significance lower compared with the control group(P0.05);The concentration of MMP-9 in each therapy group was significantly lower than that control group(P0.05);Conclusion:Atorvastatin can obvious decrease the volume of ectopia focus and inhibit MMP-9 in serum. It presume that Atorvastatin can regress the degradation of cellular martrix and expression of correlation factor, and finally inhibit the formation of endometrosis. Therefore,Atorvastatin may be a new treatment for endometeiosis.
