Abstract

[Objective] To investigate the relationship between polymorphism of the cyclooxygenase(COX)-2 gene and endometriosis(EMs),adenomyosis(Ad).[Methods] The genomic DNA of 240 women without gynecologic diseases control group,70 patients with EMs group and 50 patients with Ad group was extracted by using proteinase K digestion followed by saturated hydroxy benzene/choroform procedure.Genotypes of COX-2-1195 of all groups were determined by polymerase chain reaction-based restriction fragment length polymorphism(PCR-RFLP).[Results] The frequencies of GG、AG and AA genotype of COX-2-1195 presented difference between the EMs and control group, also between the Ad and control group. It was revealed a 2.67-fold and 3.02-fold excess risk of developing EMs and Ad in the individual for-1195AA containing haplotype respectively.[Conclusion] The sihgle nucleotide polymorphism of COX-2 may play an important role in mediming susceptibi-lity to developing EMs and Ad.
