Abstract
Abstract Background: To systematically evaluate the psychological experiences of adolescent patients with suicide attempts and gain insight into their inner needs, with the aim of providing a theoretical basis for the development of targeted suicide crisis intervention strategies for adolescents with suicide attempts. Methods: Computer searches of PubMed, Web of science, Embase, EBSCO, China Biomedical Database (CBM), China Knowledge Network, Wanfang Data, and Vipshop journal databases were conducted to include qualitative studies on the psychological experiences of adolescent patients with suicide attempts, with a search period from the date of database creation to April 1, 2023. The methodological quality of the included literature was evaluated using the Australian JBI Centre for Evidence-Based Health Care Quality Assessment Criteria for qualitative studies, and the results were integrated according to its pooled integration method. Results: A total of 16 papers were included and 53 outcomes were distilled into 10 new categories and synthesized into 4 integrated outcomes:Factors in Suicide Attempts; The Diverse Motivations for Suicide; Self-Internal Transformations; Integrated Strategies for Coping with Suicide Attempts. Conclusion: Adolescent patients with suicide attempts are affected by multiple factors, and healthcare professionals should strengthen protective factors for suicide attempts, enhance the prediction and intervention of suicide risk factors, pay attention to adolescent mental health education, adopt positive intervention strategies, provide multidimensional support for adolescents, encourage adolescents to establish positive self-perception and emotional expression skills, and inspire patients to reflect on the value of their own lives to reduce the risk of re-suicide.
