This case report with literature review describes a postmenopausal woman presenting with ovarian endometriosis that clinically and radiologically mimicked an ovarian neoplasm. The authors highlight that while pelvic ultrasound is the gold standard for diagnosis, laparoscopy with biopsy remains the only method to provide a definitive diagnosis. They note that therapeutic success relies on complete surgical resection, as medical treatments are generally palliative and clinical examination alone is insufficient for accurate assessment. This paper is centrally about endometriosis — specifically focusing on the diagnostic challenges and presentation of ovarian endometriosis in a postmenopausal patient.
