Abstract

Integrated supply chain management is essential for improving procurement effectiveness and project performance in multinational engineering procurement and construction (EPC) projects. Although supply chain integration is recognized as a critical factor, there is limited understanding of how it specifically impacts procurement procedures in this context. This study examines 45 projects from the top ten Chinese international contractors, addressing this gap in the literature. Through Pearson correlation analysis, the study finds strong relationships between key internal components of supply chain integration, procurement management procedures, and procurement performance. Operational performance, procurement contract management, and stakeholder participation are identified as crucial elements that drive project success. The findings support a theoretical model showing that supply chain integration enhances procurement performance, thus improving overall project outcomes. This research contributes valuable empirical data and insights for both academic study and business practice, providing a robust framework for optimizing procurement management in international EPC projects. Moreover, by emphasizing the efficiency and sustainability of procurement processes, this study aligns with broader sustainability goals, highlighting how optimized supply chain integration can reduce waste, improve resource use, and foster more environmentally and socially responsible procurement practices in global engineering projects.
