Abstract

A one-pot four-component condensation reaction of isatins, meldrum's acid, diamine, and nitro ketene dithioacetal in the presence of heterogeneous catalyst KAl(SO 4 ) 2 .12H 2 O (alum), which is relatively nontoxic, reusable very soluble in water, and inexpensive to yield a some new spiro[imidazo[1,2-a]pyridine-7,3'-indole]-2',5(1' H ,6 H )-dione derivatives is described.
