Abstract
We present a genome assembly from an individual female Brachyopa scutellaris (a hoverfly; Arthropoda; Insecta; Diptera; Syrphidae). The genome sequence is 587.1 megabases in span. Most of the assembly is scaffolded into 5 chromosomal pseudomolecules. The mitochondrial genome has also been assembled and is 16.68 kilobases in length. Gene annotation of this assembly on Ensembl identified 28,004 protein coding genes.
