The idea of personality functioning should be critically examined, not reified: A reply to Zimmermann et al. (2025)

In this brief commentary, I argue that personality researchers should not reify the concept of ''personality functioning'' (by continuing to define it and examine it in a fixed way) but should instead critically examine this concept (by questioning it conceptually and scrutinizing it empirically).
