Quality of Female Sexual Function After Conventional Abdominal Hysterectomy - Three Month' Observation
This study found no statistically significant changes in sexual quality of life three months after subtotal or total abdominal hysterectomy, despite patient preoperative anxiety and inconsistent partner communication.

This study evaluated changes in female sexual quality of life in gynecologic patients undergoing planned benign subtotal versus total abdominal hysterectomy without oophorectomy, using the Sexual Quality of Life Questionnaire–Female (SQoL-F) completed before surgery and again at 3 months, along with added questions on expectations and communication with partners. In 38 analyzed participants, only 55% (subtotal) and 38.9% (total) reported telling their partners completely about the planned surgery, and the mean time to resume sexual activity was about 5–6 weeks. SQoL-F scores at 3 months did not differ significantly between subtotal and total groups, and within-group decreases were slight and statistically insignificant (-0.44 in subtotal; -2.47 in total). The authors note no statistically significant changes with this short follow-up period. Relevance to endometriosis: the paper discusses hysterectomy indications that include endometriosis (and adenomyosis) in its introduction, though the study itself does not report subgroup analyses by specific underlying diagnosis.
